Fueling Six Sigma Success

If your company has no room for improvement stop reading.  If, like most companies, you're looking for methods to leverage existing investments to improve your company's profitability, read on!

The first step in launching a Six Sigma initiative is obtaining upper management support. Top management has to be convinced that the upfront costs of Six Sigma implementation will be more than offset by savings. You'll need data to do this.

Once the need has been established, one of the next steps will be to accurately pinpoint improvement areas directly affecting the bottom line.  You'll need data to do this.

Once you've implemented improvements, you'll need to demonstrate return-on-investment and, yes, you'll need data to do this.

Easy access to factual, verifiable, up-to-date data is often the first stumbling block for companies wishing to implement Six Sigma.  However, Meridium customers are already in the driver's seat when it comes to data management.  Not only do you already have the necessary data at your fingertips, you are already equipped with an arsenal of necessary analytical and management tools to help pinpoint where you should direct your improvement efforts and you also have reporting methods for sharing program success.

But data is only one-half of the Six Sigma success equation.  One of the distinguishing characteristics of a successful Six Sigma effort is commitment.  Successful initiatives are committed to devoting the resources needed to ensure program success.  Cross-functional teams are formed inorder to develop "common" and focused business objectives across the enterprise.  Embracing an enterprise-wide asset performance management system has already laid the foundation for an effective and continuous means of communicating program objectives and accomplishments consistently and continuously throughout the enterprise.

Recognizing that you are armed with the necessary information and tools to garner support, pinpoint improvement areas and effectively communicate program objectives and successes across the enterprise, click here to download our "Improving Asset Performance with Six Sigma" webinar and learn the necessary steps to jumpstart your own Six Sigma initiative!
