Last month we asked APM Advisor readers if they agreed with a January 2010 Wall Street Journal article reporting studies suggested that nearly 60% of corporate improvement initiatives like Six Sigma and Lean fail to yield the desired results. A startling 90% of APM Advisor survey participants agreed with this statement. As one Meridium APM Community LinkedIn member shared: " I believe that a good portion of the failures are a result of expecting results too quickly, not fully understanding what it takes, and not having the capabilities or talent it takes to implement Lean or Six Sigma." Be sure to read Why Corporate Improvement Initiatives like Six Sigma Fail - How to Ensure the Success of an APM Initative in this issue of the APM Advisor for important tips on how the other 40% of corporate improvement initiatives are yielding and sustaining the desired results.
